Green Festival Facts:
- Over 15,000 people attended the festival in 2007.
- Over 5,000 people pledged to make changes to live in a more sustainable way.
- Almost 100 environmental organisations work together to make the festival possible.
The festival is organised by Peterborough Environment City Trust and supported by a number of organisations including Perkins, the Environment Agency, Peterborough Evening Telegraph, KJS Print and Mail, Royal Haskoning, and Hereward FM. |
What Does Perkins Think? Principal funding for this years festival has been provided by Perkins.
Perkins’ communications officer Annette Johnson said, “Perkins is delighted to be supporting the Green Festival again this year.
“Last year’s festival was a great success and we believe this year’s two week extravaganza will give people a chance to come together and pledge to make a positive environmental change.
“As Peterborough strives to become the UK’s Environment Capital it’s vital that the city’s largest manufacturing business supports this ambition. By actively supporting the Green Festival Perkins is demonstrating its commitment to the environment.
“We know the environment is also important for our employees, who both live and work in the area, so throughout the festival we will be holding environmental events on site as well as supporting a number of community activities.
“We’re looking forward to working with PECT to ensure this year’s festival is enjoyed by the whole Peterborough community.” |

Principal funding for this year's Green Festival has been provided by Perkins. For more information about Perkins, please visit www.perkins.com.
What can you look forward to?
The streets will be buzzing with live music and a host of hands on activities. Sample locally sourced, seasonal delights from the food stalls, burn off a few calories at the carbon cyclometer and find out how much harder you have to pedal to light a traditional tungsten light bulb compared with an energy saving one! Get your hands on our ‘get a green grip Peterborough’ cotton shopping bags and view the plastic bag sculpture.
Join in with one of the many nature walks planned, and learn about the amazing species on our doorstep in this part of the country. Absorb yourself in UK wildlife with the Wildlife Trust’s Wind in the Willows family day.
Test your environmental knowledge in the green competitions, picking up eco-goodies such as pens and rulers made from recycled plastic cups, power-down plugs, bird feeders, and notebooks made from recycled tyres. |

This year we are running the Get a Green Grip Peterborough campaign throughout the Green Festival. This campaign aims to reduce one off plastic bag use in Peterborough.
We are asking everyone to swap their plastic bags for a Get a Green Grip re-useable bag and together we can make a big impact for our local and global environment. Making Peterborough plastic bag free strongly supports our ambition to become the UK’s Environment Capital.
Get a Green Grip Peterborough launch:
Thursday 8th May, 3.30 – 5.30, Peterborough Town Hall, Reception Hall
